Petőfi Cultural Centre
Description
Our urban design concept is based on two key elements. The first is the liberation, visualisation and accentuation of the Petőfi House. The other element of the concept is to increase and enrich the public urban surfaces, with the intention of making the city centre a meeting place for the people of kiskőrös not only at certain times of the year, but also every day of the year, with a friendly microclimate and a variety of opportunities throughout the year.
Symmetry is the best way to focus on the Petőfi House. The structure of the city centre already has symmetrical features. With minimal intervention, this symmetry will be reinforced.
On the site of the demolished cultural centre, we will create a space for a variety of events, offering something for all seasons and providing a new meeting and leisure space for local residents.
The position of the two new public buildings will be defined by symmetry. The low, longitudinal cubature of the library is suitable for dealing with the gap in the square wall left by the demolished cultural centre, the block including the Petőfi House is closed off and the streetscape is regularised.
The resulting situation can also integrate the cultural building into the park, Petőfi Square and the new agora if the section of Petőfi Street, which is currently very busy, becomes a reduced-traffic or mixed-traffic surface.
The larger building of the cultural centre can be integrated into the higher wall of the space opposite the birthplace, the position opposite the birthplace does not compete, it creates a link. Conversation. Axis is created.
