Nádorkert station (Ferencváros-Kelenföld railway line)
Description
As part of the development of the Southern Circular Railway, our firm was tasked with the architectural design of the Nádorkert station, the design of the platform canopy, and the architectural design of the integrated structure between the Southern Connecting Railway Bridge and the Bartók Béla út Bridge as part of the Ferencváros–Kelenföld railway line capacity expansion project.
The design concept centers on the integrated structure, which combines the functions of the overhead line support system and the noise barrier wall that reduces railway noise pollution. This element, running approximately 2,200 meters from the Danube to the Bartók Béla út Bridge, defines the character of the development. The platform canopy at the Nádorkert stop is also part of this system, featuring organic transitions and a geometry adapted to the climatic and spatial requirements of the environment. The appearance of the entire structure is defined by transparency, lightness, and a visual quality befitting modern urban infrastructure.
The development is significant not only from an architectural perspective: thanks to the project, noise pollution in the surrounding areas will be reduced, urban connectivity will improve, suburban rail transport will become faster and more reliable, and a new, competitive rail link will be established between the southern districts of Budapest.
A key objective in designing the station was to create a clean, clear, and user-friendly environment that offers a high-quality spatial experience. We integrated railway-specific design elements with contemporary materials, a harmonious color palette, and thoughtful structural solutions to create a comfortable, modern, and inspiring transportation hub for passengers.
