Dubai Inspire - Dubai Creek Harbour
Description
NEW ARCHITECTURAL SYMBOL
Dubai Creek Harbour is one of the most dynamically developing places on Earth. Due to its proximity to Downtown Dubai, its iconic skyscrapers, and the planned Dubai Creek Tower, the importance of the area is undeniable, even on a global scale.
CONCEPT
The Dubai inSPIRE concept does not compete with the future global icon designed by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. The ambitious verticality of Dubai Creek Tower clearly dominates its intended setting. We believe that the new icon should adapt to this vertical urban context and modestly reflect the main architectural statement. However, it is clear that one of the main attractions will be the unrivaled panoramic experience offered by Dubai Creek Tower, so our design should also feature a vertical gesture, even if it is not primarily designed as a viewing tower. The key feature is to connect the various points of the new world-class mixed-use port and the metro, creating a unique meeting point above the city — "the most identifiable structure in the world."
ACCESS
Dubai inSPIRE would not be accessible directly from the area where it would be built. It would stand at the center of a carefully chosen imaginary circle, with four entrances located on its tangent, connected by a cable car system running through the center of the structure at an altitude of 250 meters above ground level.
"Our aim was to create an urban cableway structure, spanning from the ground level to the terminus without intermediate supports."
CONNECTION WITHIN THE CITY
Dubai Creek Harbour is a vast complex comprising residential, cultural, and open spaces. The aim of Dubai inSPIRE is to become the focal point of Dubai Creek Harbour by connecting the area’s various points with its four cable car links. This would allow both residents and tourists to experience the magnificent panorama of the harbor and its surroundings in an idyllic setting — "a piece of ideally positioned heaven."
The first cable car would connect Dubai inSPIRE to three main destinations: the metro station, Dubai International Airport, and the luxury golf course. The second and third cableways would link Creek Island to the city, with two terminals located at waterfront transport hubs, connecting not only cultural spaces but also residential areas. The fourth cable car line would be routed into the city center, forming a bridge between the harbor and residential districts, while also connecting to numerous cultural venues.
