Family house construction

Design of a family house on the Holt-Kőrös riverside in Békésszentandrás.

Our task was to design a house that is suitable for hosting larger family and friend events. The special feature of the building site is that it is located directly on the Holt-Kőrös riverside. This relationship was decisive during the design, the house provides an uninterrupted enjoyment of the beautiful environment from the interior spaces through large glass surfaces towards the waterfront panorama.

The free-standing, gross 270 m2 building consists of two main masses. The living room was placed in the ground-floor mass on the waterfront side, and the garage on the street side. The two-story mass contains the more intimate spaces. The two masses are connected by a flat-roofed neck member. The kitchen-dining room was placed here, to which the covered terrace on the waterfront side is connected. This space is the center of family life and also the center of gravity of the building.

During the design, we tried to adapt to the surrounding buildings, which is why the two main building masses were given a 45-degree pitched roof. The goal was also to create a contemporary building that meets all modern needs, as well as to create a friendly, lovable environment, which we wanted to achieve by using natural materials.
